In celebration of International Women’s Day, Ranch Ride Carriage Drive recognizes two stellar four-in-hand drivers and members of the exclusive Ladies’ World Coaching Club. Barbara Stockton is an incredible force in the world of the rare Hackney breed, working as a breeder, judge, and advocate, and serving as the longtime President of the Hackney Horse Society. Caroline Dale-Leech, MBE, has served for decades as an instructor, examiner, judge, and mentor for the British Driving Society, and I am proud and humbled to count her as the greatest mentor of my own horsemanship career. In this photo, Barbara is seated next to me at the front of her beautiful coach, and Caroline, in her capacity as judge, is awarding us the trophy for the coaching championship at the 2009 Edenbridge and Oxted Agricultural Show in England. It is an honor to know both of these very accomplished horsewomen.
